A lot of parents aren't up to speed on what is going on in the culture. Normalcy bias and all that. Plus it has been beaten into everybody's heads for decades that the only way to get a good job is to go to college. Finally, the vast, vast majority of people just want to fit in and the dominant belief system of America is progressivism.
I know someone who sent his son overseas to go to some bullshit "prestigious" college. He's so proud that his son is spending probably $75,000 a year to get a liberal arts degree.
He's, of course, a boomer. They still think a college degree is the pinnacle of human achievement, and the more expensive the degree, the better. He's brainwashed his children into thinking the same. By the time they're old though to know better, they'll have been saddled with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, delaying their ability to become financially independent by at least 20 years.
It's going to be another generation or two before the ingrained worship of universities dies off, and at that point so too will the universities themselves.
Why do white kids even go to college at this point? Paying money to be guilt tripped for four years sounds like anti-fun.

Imagine people with the life goal of being a hired servant.
What, are you a fucking child? You don't serve anyone because mommy brings you hot pockets and washes your undies?
The idea of people not becoming someone's employee sure has you upset. What's going on in your life?
At least there’s air conditioning.
Air conditioning is rare here.
And you have morons screaming about free college

In their time people without degrees often found their jobs moved to another continent.
Also, you could work a job over the summer and pay for the entirety of your college.
They really want to believe it's still that time and nothing has changed.
I hope at least some of them wake up to how the system is against them.
