He is very popular, I know him from Mistborn and Wheel of Time books 12-14.
The argument is that people are giving him money because he is white, not that he is a consistent good writer (a bit overrated in my opinion) that gets books out on time, unlike George R.R. Martin.
Why don't all white people start a kickstarter to get 18milion, apparently that is all you need.
The amount of entitlement in some people makes my blood boil,
"no one reads my book" - maybe the subject is not interesting, maybe the writing style is bad, maybe the setting is poorly done and is not immersive, maybe it just sucks, NOPE it must always be racism.
Sanderson is the MCU of the writing world. His books are interconnected and he is constantly pumping them out. They're not all masterpieces, but they're usually pretty good.

Writing shit that doesn't have mass appeal is obviously not gonna sell to the masses, but these hacks are more likely to have Twitter followings rather than cult followings.
