Unironically I enjoy their trash more than our trash. Their trash isn't actively trying to undermine my mental capacity and lie to me about my life and my history.
Just watched it (skipping through). The slow talking "American" voices are always hilarious and there's a lot of unintentional comedy in the Chinese soldiers acting too. All in all it reminded me of the Russian high budget trash film Stalingrad (not to be confused with the actually good German film Stalingrad).
Verdict: Boy oh boy, the modern Chinese cinema is fucking bad and their people love stupid CGI garbage (not a surprise). I wish they could make more like Nanjing! Nanjing! which was some real kino (just take a look).
Ever see The Gods Must Be Crazy? And its sequel, with the kids? Good movies. Very charming, adventure, lots of fun to watch. Was as pleasantly surprised by the first one as I was by The Princess Bride.
I was quite happy to find out there was a third one. That happiness kind of dissipated when I read into it a bit more.
The Chinese made it.
It features a hopping Chinese vampire. Who isn't the antagonist. It's friendly. I stopped right there.
I see the Chinese also made a sequel to Skyline, which I enjoyed on the level of "this is just like the Americans on the trains with the bison, only the humans are the bison, cool!" I don't have very high hopes for the sequel.
Skyline is a pretty cool little silly movie. A survival horror featuring the UFOs over LA.
Battle: Los Angeles was advertised as something like that but a serious war movie starring a squad of stranded soldiers, and even in the same city, but it's just so fucking awful. Unwatchable.
Most high budget Chinese movies are trash, because they're all addicted to CGI.
CGI FOR EVERY SINGLE FUCKING THING.
Not good CGI that make things look real, it's CGI that makes everything looks fake as fuck.

It's probably why Star Wars sequel did badly. It didn't have a lot of CGI spaceships blowing up.
The Chinese audience is pretty simplistic in what it wants.
I expected something good, but not widely known because not Holywood.
It's bad. The acting is bad. The CGI is bad.
Hot damn that's giving me 90s video game FMV CGI flashbacks.
Heh - even their 'big budget' stuff is fake.
Marital arts and gangster / cop films are usually better (specifically HK cinema).
Another trash movie made by CCP
America are the bad guys and they want to train the bug men for wwiii
