I read the first one about 10 years ago. At the time it was a little too autistic with all the details, but that's partly why I end up away from high fantasy anyway. I'm more than willing to give it another shot.
Besides, I've already bought it, the single "book" version on Kindle. It's one of the three things I own there so while it would be stuck in DRM I wouldn't feel bad about cracking that or a sailing adventure to get a free copy. Maybe being 10 years older and stupider I'd enjoy it enough to add a physical version to my collection.
I haven't had any luck figuring out how to download them. Doesn't matter much, I won't feel bad just downloading them from somewhere else where I don't have to strip DRM, I already paid for the content after all. I don't have that much on Kindle anyway, it didn't last long as a platform before I decided I liked books better or Amazon-alternatives.
Years back I read Fellowship and the Hobbit. I enjoyed it but if you are someone who isn’t a big reader you may want to watch the movie and go over cliff notes.
That sounds interesting enough I might just put it on my own reading list for sometime. I haven't done much Civil War stuff because I generally haven't been interested in it.

Use Calibre and jailbreak all your Kindle books. 🏴☠️

I recently finished the trilogy so it’s fresh in my head.

Dante's inferno
If you wanna quit being a pussy and read something actually spicy and different, I say we do Memoirs of Service Afloat by Raphael Semmes.

Should perhaps the books be shorter and/or more casual reads?
LotR is kind of a boring read, for me, I'd rather watch the movies, which is one of the few books where that's the case.
I second that, and I've read the things four times in my life. Still have the all-in-one copy in a box.
