Did anyone catch Ron DeSantis's speech at CPAC?

Based Florida man.
I would love to see him as the Republican nominee for President in 2024.
The man is pragmatic, polished, able to win over Independents and way less likely to unite the Democrats than Trump.
I like his style which is why I'd rather he stay as governor. We need more governors like him. They can resist a tyrannical DC. But he should announce that if he ever loses his seat in Florida he'll immediately run for president. Dems worship central authority and would be afraid of that. Reps should pivot to decentralized control and shrinking the federal government.
the establishment has been trying to pit him AGAINST drumpf for 24. So you know there is some underridding reason that they WANT him to run.
Idk what it is, yet.
I've been watching the media rant and rave about DeSantis and he's by far my favorite possible 2024 contender. He was the one leading the charge in opposing the riots and the disruption to people's lives over the past 2 years. It's going to be tough for the Dems and their mouthpieces in the media to get people freaked out about DeSantis after what they did to Trump (not that they won't try of course).
McCain and Romney were "so called actual Republicans" and they sucked ass.
Trump is a anti-war 90s Democrat with right wing views on immigration and guns and yet this specific platform is what the GOP needed to be competitive in the rust belt states and actually win a national election.
Bush policies of war mongering, unfettered "free trade" of globalization and austerity measures nearly led to the complete extinction of the GOP.
I will always give Trump credit for shifting the Republican party to be more populist.
DeSantis is great because he has learned to adopt Trump's good populist policies while his delivery is polished and way better suited to win Independent votes.
DeSantis is great because he is not Generic Republican.
You could do much worse than "anti-war 90s Democrat with right wing views on immigration and guns."
We are literally doing much worse than that RIGHT NOW.
I voted for Trump twice but I have to admit he is abrasive and turns people off. Desantis wouldn’t have that issue.
I think desant with more power would lead like mccain, just imo
Exactly why I feel we should not run Trump for the third time in 2024.
He has great policies but his delivery rubs too many normies who care about optics the wrong way.
Nah, he was cheated out of office.
Normies dont actually care about the abrasiveness. Probably why so many voted for him actually.
We need a candidate who isnt afraid to speak the unpleasant truth, because no one else will.
Not from the US (in case it's not obvious from my username lol) - but, damn, this was a good speech.
Lists all the shit he's got done without sounding arrogant or boastful, rather a lead by example kinda guy.
He used humour and a bit of self deprecation to good effect as well.
I like a nice list of accomplishments, but I want details on how he is going to make things better, not just fucking talking points and sound bites if he is going to run for national office.
Just acknowledging the problem is not enough. He needs to have a plan going in and some good allies. Trump failed, in part, do to lack of good people around him. He also needs to be ready to fight the media and the democrats and rinos.
Which is why these people fail. CPAC is just an echo chamber full of dog whistlers. I watched Tulsi's and she's no better. This next election is going to be a total shit show at this rate.
