I don't really believe that the electrical grid is going to go down.
It is the softest of all targets in civil strife. Ripe for targeted aggression or false flags, depending on whether the revolutionaries think hitting the grid will hurt the regime (they can't even keep the lights on!) or the regime thinks they can spin it into a propaganda victory (the revolutionaries want your grandmother to freeze to death in the dark!).
I can picture some scenarios under which it doesn't go down but is instead made too expensive for anybody who's not a member of the Party to afford.
Hell, lots of countries around the world in are the process of doing that right now by shutting down nuclear and then going all-in on renewable energy that only provides around 30-40% of the rated power.
Are you familiar with the 1859 CME? Now imagine the copper wires that caught fire back then now being inside most buildings too, not just on poles across the countryside.
Not only could the grid go down, any building that happens to contains electrical wires could catch on fire too.
I have several 5 oz copper rounds, and all I can think of is my computer dying, followed by several giant pennies bursting into flames.
Crypto is a joke and it’s harming the efficacy of gold and silver. You can assume that the local Exxon Mobil gas station or P&G affiliated grocery store is only accepting your dark web cum-tokens because the technology is compromised.
I don't think it's harming the efficacy of gold and silver. As a bartering medium, gold and silver is still good. But Crypto can allow for larger transfers without it being prohibitive in size.
I can easily imagine an ultra-wealthy & exclusive crypto just for very rich people being introduced outside of normal currency exchanges.
That's what were really talking about here: a breakdown in the monopoly of currencies.
Gold and silver are also worthless post collapse.
Crypto is completely controlled as an asset.
If you think you can escape by holding coins you're gonna be in for a rude awakening when the government blacklists your wallets and labels you a terrorist.
