The shadowhunter class' transformation was even turned black so you can literally play a class that constantly puts on black face to better burn loot and murder
The largest and most impactful change is the alteration of various NPCs to allegedly address concerns regarding the game’s representation.
The race-swapped character in that example doesn't look like she was white, she looks Korean.
Also looks like they fucked up the material shader(s) when they made this change resulting in even her hair looking dipped in plastic. I swear I've seen this with a Japanese game before where they censored the models but fucked up in the process.
I'll say a couple things about this after playing it - it's free, so I haven't given anyone money for it, to start with. The story is absolute dogshit trash, like most Korean story-telling in games (and manga/manhwa), and honestly in their dramas and movies. They have some hits, just like us, but this is not one of them.
So considering that, 90% of the player base spams esc/skips cutscenes and is never going to see these characters, or know their names at all. It doesn't excuse the stupid bullshit diversity but it makes it less noticeable for most players. The race swapped cards I haven't actually seen yet, but I don't even pay much attention to the card images so it's kind of a null for me. And there are definitely some stand out NPCs that just have dark skin but are otherwise a carbon copy of the NPCs around them so that was an obvious checkbox for them.
The character creation has incredibly obvious black faces for both genders, and some very clearly black hairstyles to go along with it - I can't say for sure but I doubt they existed in the original because they really stand out. I just can't see Koreans playing a very clearly black-featured character with the stereotypical big lips and wide nose shape.
The game itself is quite fun, quests are monotonous and stupid shit that you see in every MMO, but fighting and skill choices are fun, combat is satisfying and fighting swarms of enemies (as often as you can in early game at least) is a ton of fun. If you like Diablo/PoE style games and also like the over the top action in eastern games with flashy attacks (kinda like BDO or Tera if you've played) - this one is free and worth a shot. I don't think anything on the cash shop is worth it for me, and wouldn't want to give them money after all of the censorship news and pictures even before this post anyway.
This is so insulting. Other countries think that Americans want diversity. We don't. This diversity propaganda feels just as foreign to us as it does to them.
Lol at giving a Korean character blackface just to make the game more “diverse.”
Wish they had gone full racist and had them speaking like slaves and eating grits, cornbread, and fried chicken.
Koreans are the new gingers!?

Malicious compliance?

Not surprised. Niche gamer is a good gaming site? I didn’t know they still existed
yeah, much better than IGN and their woke crew.
Good is subjective. Necessary evil at the very least? Certainly.

I WANT TO SEE BEAUTIFUL WHITE WOMEN WHEN I GAME!
Big gaming companies feel they must appeal to the access media (Kotaku) to be popular.
Literally do not care about Korean MMOs.
Username checks out.
Heard it was not a great game, so it'll likely fail regardless.
KMMOs are known for being MTX hellholes.
Regarding outfits: Why not give us both options? I would pick the new full leather (bottom left one) and the old cloth (top right one) and be happy.
