It will only punish the GAE's European colonies who depend on Russia for gas and throw away tax dollars. The Americans have paid Ukraine to give theirs to Russia. Now your "GAE" needs to nuclearily re-arm Ukraine and let them restore their sovereignty, if American nuclear weapons can't be used for their supposed purpose (defense by deterrence) from America as apparently they're literally useless (the weapons and the Americans themselves both).
I'd support Ukraine being allowed to keep the western 2/3 of its current territory. If Russia had any inclination to do the right thing, they'd have either rescued the eastern 1/3 along with Crimea, or actually gone in and restored the legitimate elected government that 'cookies' Nuland help overthrow.
We should support them without going into the country.

"This new one" was also democratic elected (as were the previous ones after Yanuk). Not sure what is "GAE", never heard such an acronym.
