Here's some relevant Bernays, who would be impressed by the results of modern propaganda campaigns.

Take the great war on the dining-room table, for instance. Three times a day practically every dining room table in the country is the scene of a fierce battle in the new competition. Shall we have prunes for breakfast? No, cry the embattled orange-growers and the massed legions of pineapple canners. Shall we eat sauerkraut? Why not eat green olives? is the answer of the Spaniards. Eat macaroni as a change from potatoes, says one advertiser—and will the potato growers take this challenge lying down?

The doctors and dietitians tell us that a normal hard-working man needs only about two or three thousand calories of food a day. A banker, I suppose, needs a little less. But what am I to do? The fruit growers, the wheat raisers, the meat packers, the milk producers, the fishermen—all want me to eat more of their products—and are spending millions of dollars a year to convince me. Am I to eat to the point of exhaustion, or am I to obey the doctor and let the farmer and the foodpacker and the retailer go broke! Am I to balance my diet in proportion to the advertising appropriations of the various producers? Or am I to balance my diet scientifically and let those who overproduce go bankrupt? The new competition is probably keenest in the food industries because there we have a very real limitation on what we can consume—in spite of higher incomes and higher living standards, we cannot eat more than we can eat.

-Edward Bernays, Propaganda

Oh Eddie, you could never have imagined how wrong you were here.

They all want to sell their stuff ( food ) to the equivalent of people in crippling debt ( fatties ). And fatties like to eat alot, so they want to hear they are "not eating enough of X". Never be told and accept they eat too much, period.

I budget my food calories and fill the daily total with whatever taistes good as long as I have a baseline of proteins and vitamins and keep it in balance with basic needs + exercise of that day.

The scale responds exactly as expected.

The stupid "experts" on TV saying shit like "eat takeout no more than once or twice a month" or "stop eating this, that, and than", eat breakfest, wait, don't. Fat is evil, sugar is evil.

Oh my god, it's not that fucking complicated.

Got a weight problem? Precisely mesure your food and drinks, and increase or decrease the number of calories you consume according to your goals.

Since losing my old computer I lost the link to the study on obese people who "just can't lose weight despite barely eating". Sad.

The results were, even if you tell them to report everything they eat because it will be mesured by a third party, fatties eat twice as much as they claim they do.

I don't know when it happened, but at some point "experts" and the general public started believing fat people swearing they "don't eat that much" and since then have been comming-up with ridiculous vodoo rituals and lists of scapegoat items.

They seem incapable to say and accept these simple words : you are fat because you consume too much food.

Instead they say you need to eat and drink more. Drink more water. Eat more protein. Eat more vegetables. Well the fattie os going to keep eating their jumbo bag of chips, but once every other day they will add an apple.

Nutritionists have been about as helpful for the past decades as epidemiologists have been for the past 2 years : they negatively impacted everyone's lives.

You should have seen the booklets they gave my father. About as useful as the government propaganda telling you to wash your hands against an airborne virus.

Washing your fucking hands is still one of the best things to do against any disease, respiratory or not.
