I still remember making a fool of a friend. She was spewing this pro-EU propaganda without anyone asking, just randomly. So I asked her what are the institutions of the EU, how are they elected, how are you represented and how are they held accountable.
She was so upset of me asking that, she had no idea. Is easy to believe something without questioning anything, she truly believed it was some benevolent, fully democratic institution.
I also asked her when exactly did she vote for Ursula, a German politician that had previously been Minister of Defense where she did nothing of merit except having uniforms for pregnant women.
EU is toast, they've allowed all control to non-democratic elected elites that have no accountability.
There is accountability to some extent at a country level. There have been several cases where governments had to step down do to poor management or corruption.
But at an EU level? Who exactly gets the responsibility? Where does it take in to account the will of the people? If they manage poorly, lets say the immigrant crisis, how do you vote your opinion?
You vote for some parliament representatives that just veto what ever the Commission wants, No one even knows what those they vote for are saying they want to do. Everyone blindly votes on a local party, so there is no accountability because they do not have to assume responsibility, they do not need to have a platform.
Combine this with the lack of knowledge on how the EU works and there is no accountability, except at an abstract level as in the EU is responsible.
Honestly the US system is superior to the EU, at least in theory.

You think the "elected" official cunts have accountability?
