Have you ever known a woman that had a lot of female friends? I haven't. All the women I've known have had, at best, one or two. They might know, and act friendly with, other females, but they're not friends.
An in-group preference is not the same as friendship. In a non-sexually competitive environment women prefer to be around women because of their natural inclination to submissiveness in the presence of a strong male. A women naturally defers to a strong male. They want to and in some situations they prefer to, but years of feminist indoctrination has conditioned them to avoid it. So, professionally groups of women will prefer effeminate men over masculine men. Consciously or subconsciously they'll work to eliminate masculine professional competition in their groups.
Women are never in a non-sexually competitive environment. Even in a group of all females, women see each other as sexual threats and constantly try to compete with, and one-up each other. If one woman in a group is gorgeous and the rest are all frumpy, they will team up to get rid of the gorgeous gal to ensure a more level playing field. Once the threat has passed, they go back to back-stabbing each other.
It's also literally in women's biology to backstab each other.
