Do to this I want to shift over to AD&D, unfortunately that is harder to do then 3d edition. There are less online resources.
At first I was upset about it but then I realized that it is fine, it is the most authentic experience you can have. You need to open a player manual or the monster manual rather then just go on a wiki and search.
I managed to find a lot of the older modules for free on archive.org. Now I'm trying to find someone to play with. I tried to get a few of the guys to play it recently but we just ended up doing a barbeque and getting drunk for 2 days in a row.
Long story short, I refuse to give even one dollar to anything that would profit WOTC. This includes BG3.
THAC0 and decreasing armor are not that bad. What I found complicated was the combat. Divide combat in to segments and then have your second attack at the end of the round, except if you cast a spell that took 5 segment but you were suppose to have the 6'th segment so it would have been cast the next round. It made a bit of confusion. AD&D also had you roll a d6 for initiative vs d12 and d20 later on. This caused a lot more of at the same time attacks.
But true, it did keep normies out. As Gygax himself said, the game was designed for intelligent and creative people. Is surprising how much you preserve if you keep games hard to play.
wotc was pozzed a long time ago and nobody shpuld support anything they do
but the nice thing us eatlier additions fluff is perfectly usable if for some reason you think the newer crunch has merit
