Romney, Collins, and Murkowski are the most likely. I'd guess Romney if I had to, just because he's already made comments advocating "comprise" when it comes to fundamental liberties.

This is good, but we shouldn't overstate how good it is. It means the resolution will the pass the Senate assuming the Republicans are unanimous (ie no backstabbing from cucks like Romney). Having the Dem controlled Senate rebuke him makes Biden look bad, but it means nothing substantial since Pelosi would never allow a vote on it, never mind the fact that it would vetoed if she did and enough moderates pulled a Manchin. .

What is so odd? He's always been a moderate Dem.

It will not matter to M&S what value the seat has to Democrats. They're trying to stay in office. If Biden can't get his program passed as he wants it, that's his problem - though I bet he will, in different form.

There is no reason either of these two should give a damn about it, except for retaliation by the insane party zombies chasing them into bathrooms. That said, they still help the party by giving it control over the senate.

Now, are they helping themselves? Manchin, very likely, yes. Sinema is in very good position for a general election, but may face trouble in a primary. I think she realizes that Arizona is a lean-red state, and that this is the only way she can have a truly safe seat in the general. But she may underestimate the lunacy of the primary voters. It will remain to be seen whether her actions help or hurt her in the end. She may go work for a pharmaceutical company or something.

He's more Republican than half of our own side!

No, the full court press just makes him look that way. Manchin votes left about 80% of the time, but those aren't the ones you hear about (or remember).

I watch Ted Cruz' podcast somewhat frequently, because it's an interesting look at the buddy-buddy cesspool that is behind the scenes of Congress. Cruz has been very consistent on the reliability of Manchin being nonexistent. He will occasionally back Republicans when they have a clear majority as a symbolic gesture, but when his vote is the one that could potentially swing a decision he will always side with the Democrats. Don't get your hopes up.
