Pokemon is still a thing? Damn... I'm getting old I guess.
It's a money printer. Adults love it, kids love it, and it doesn't matter how good or bad the games are because they'll always sell.
So I guess it's still the same exact game? Teenage character, get your pokemon, roam through tube level world until you hit all the gyms, defeat some evil team on the side and try to catch 9001 pokemon which are mostly useless except for like 10, spend hours leveling those little shits, become world champion, credits?
Yes.
The End Game is still the same as well, catching hundreds of the same thing trying to find a pokemon with good starting IV's followed by EV training to maximize their stats. (I may have incorrectly switched IV & EV, but who cares).
I play them, but I certainly haven't paid for one in like...20 years.
Over 20 years ago I had to reject several tonnes of chicken breasts because a pokemon token (glass bead type thing) exceeded our "acceptable" mass of foreign bodies, so out the doors it went, back to wherever it originated from
