No, independent running is available and frankly should be the most supported. Lawyers/ law degrees make up the vast majority of politicians. I don’t think anyone could name a good president that had a law degree in the past century, if not longer.
Bernie runs as an independent technically.
He switched to Democrat because the DNC wouldn't let him on the primary ballots otherwise.
