Some of you may know how much I bitch about my home state, but now it might time to get the fuck out of this state.
With Gavin Newson winning the recall election and the vaccine/mask mandates getting ever closer to home, I have been seriously contemplating moving out-of-state to any non-blue state (or even out-of-country). I am the only person in my entire family and friend group to not give in to the vaccine and a part of the few who will openly not wear a mask unless forced to do so. I am also pretty sure that my current company will soon enforce the vaccine so I have been looking for remote software work on the side. So there is nothing much keeping me here in California.
But I also know that other states that are currently anti-left could change their politics due to changing demographics, shitty governors, etc. So one could argue to stay here in California, find like-minded folks, and fight as long as I can until I die standing for my beliefs. I live in a very blue part of California, so I could also look into moving into a more red part of the state to maintain my sanity.
If people here think the leftist cancer will spread to red states, then I might as well hunker down here in California and make the best of it, but if there are bastions of sanity in other states, then I should make a game plan and try my luck there while I have no major responsibilities tying me to California.
And no, I won't be voting for leftist policies that destroyed California so suggest your current state if it is based.
Newson got 10% more votes to not recall him than he originally had votes that installed him. Red counties has 70% of voters told they already voted by mail.
We're told that election was completely secure.
Obviously you shouldn't stay in a location where you have zero political power, because you're dependent on those who do have political power to respect you and that's obviously not the case.
It sucks to break ties with family, sure, but they're going to chain you to your grave. Survive and you might have a chance at reclaiming what is yours. Die and, well, you know.
If some of the experts opinions on the vaccine are to be trusted (I personally think a lot of it is hyperbole), they'll be dead within 2 years anyway. Better to leave on your terms than everyone bugging out at the same time.
Why do you post easily refutable crap, that you heard online somewhere and decided to repeat for the heck of it?
BTW, the 'yes' campaign also got more votes than the GOP candidate last time.
Obviously false, as no election is completely secure, let alone American ones. The recall would have failed even without your phantom 10%.
I just moved to Texas from California a few weeks ago.
Get the hell out of California. In Northern Texas where I am at, I see plenty of people without masks and life goes on like normal.
California has become a sick place. I lived in California for decades but I couldn't take it anymore.
I recommend you consider moving to a red state and help keep them red.
If you're going to move for political purposes, at least move to a purple state to help it get red.
I guess moving to get away from tyrannical overreach is a political issue lol
But yes, I will also look into purple states as well.
Keeping Texas red is also important
Thanks!
Happy to finally be a resident of a state I can be proud of.
I live in North Texas. So far it’s red. I do fear it turning blue one day but one thing I’ve seen is a lot of Hispanics who are anti-left
Well the ones I’ve seen are usually middle age or elderly. I know the border counties really spiked for Trump. A big jump from 2016.
I'm not even American, so make of it what you will, but I don't see CA stopping until it destroys it's own economy.
The problem being, CA's economy is big enough that it might take the rest of the US with it.
That aside, I think the Newsom thing has made it quite clear that unless you're a DNC ideologue die-hard, CA simply is not your state any more. Sure, they'll take your tax money, but apart from handing the money over, your role is to shut up and do as you're told. If that's not the life for you, probably best to leave if the family thing isn't a dealbreaker.
The family thing would have been a dealbreaker if they weren't so into the Covid cult. I'm honestly fine only seeing them at most a few times a year because of this.
GTFO. It's a sinking ship.
Florida seems to be solid red still and was a HUGE quality of life improvement over the previous deep blue area where I lived. Just stay away from the big cities, as always.
Utah is pretty great.
Or join New Hampshire for the Free State Project.
Sorry about the recall. I felt that Larry Elder scared them due to the ridiculous attacks on him.
I voted for Larry Elder in the recall election. It is a shame he didn't become governor as he really could have changed California for the better. But it may have been a fool's journey as California is one the most blue states in the US.
How likely is the national divorce going to happen? It seems that most states would not realistically do it due to sanctions and retribution by the US government.
Very unlikely.
I'm in a similar situation right now and I intend on moving to a solid red state in 6-18 months. I don't want to move to a purple state and then have to move again a year or two later.
I'll wait a while to see how the Covid madness plays out, and then I'll narrow my list down and make a decision.
