Bombastic. Makes it look like they care. As for ranting in typed words, it's because we are very passionate people. About anything and everything. The freedom of speech has made many people blowhard assholes. The louder they talk/scream, the dumber they tend to be.

Shaffer is from California, some part of the Greater Los Angeles area, so make of that what you will. He only recently moved to Texas.
It's very regional in the US, like all places. To be overly general, the Midwest and South are a lot calmer.
Tends to be an Internet/TV thing.
