Biden has few, if any, defenders on the chaotic last days of the 20-year war in Afghanistan, but ultimately, a war-weary nation may well give him a pass for ending America's longest war, regardless of the short-term costs in blood and treasure.

In Washington, Recriminations Over Afghanistan Emerge Quickly
President Biden is finding few outspoken defenders amid the chaotic collapse of the Afghan government. But after 20 years, a war-weary America may still give the president a pass.

Enjoy the new narrative.
If this is war weariness I’d hate to see what happens when an actual war occurs.
It's now legal to draft women in America.
Why not the Khumer Rouge.
I'm sure there's lots of counterrevolutionaries and capitalist saboteurs that magically caused Kabul to fall.
Maybe it's the ghost of Donald Trump.
Didn’t realize 20 years was short-term.
I actually agree with the title, if not the editorializing. We elected 3 consecutive presidents who promised to end that war. The execution is a fiasco, but that probably won't be politically relevant in 2024. I actually suspect that factored into the decision to pull out now. Doing it early on like this allows to the news cycle to move onto something else by election day.
If the poor Afghans don't want to be persecuted by the Taliban they should take up arms and actually fight for themselves for once. Why should we be the ones to pick up the tab for their follies and conflicts?
Hey now, cool it with the racism.
THIS. I'm looking forward to reports of Taliban atrocities against these fuckers. They spent the last 20 years fucking us over and watching them get fucked in the bed they made will be glorious.
Never forgive, never forget.
Woah hey now! Cool it with the anti-semitism there buddy!
How is Joe Biden jewish. We should still remember his fuckups.
And when one kept that promise, both sides of the aisle couldn’t wait to get rid of him.
"So Hitler ordered the deaths of a few million people. So what. Punishing him won't bring them back. He was having a hard time, and you know he was on drugs, right? Who hasn't done bad things while on drugs?"
What did he say about trump ordering the withdrawal?
Oh, please. I'd bet that more than 2/3rds of Americans had forgotten we were even there.
Huh.
I give Biden a pass because he stuck to Trump's plan.
"But the translators!" - Fuck 'em, don't care.
Not those of us who fought over there.
Jesus christ this thread...
Fuck...
I think I might... Quit your little circlejerk for a while. I may or may not come back when you're done glorifying death and the killing, torture and rape of an entire country of people...
Man. See, sometimes I think "Ok, I might disagree with these people on a lot of things, but at least we must have some common ground."
And then I see replies like the ones in this thread, and I realise, no, there is literally no point in reasoning/discussing with people who believe shit like that, and will spout it all over the internet.
Enjoy your shitty little genocidal circlejerk. I'm sure you'll happily pat each other on the back about how "righteous" you are. "America first", and all that shit...
Didn't you hire Biden?
Do you know why a loose band of rabble just took a country the size of France over a weekend? It's because no1curr. 99% of that country wants the form of government the Taliban has to offer, strict sharia. And "genocide"? There will be no genocide because The Taliban ARE Afghans. This isn't a foreign invader. Some heads will roll but I guarantee you that it will be three orders of magnitude less than the previous transition.
Pretty sure I didn't do this.

Truth is, people care more about themselves than some likely leftist media propaganda about the plight of Afghan women. At least I suspect most here would percieve such concern as propaganda.
Perhaps you might find more genuflecting hivemind milquetoast takes somewhere milder.
Can you give an actual reason we should care about a people who collectively rejected enlightenment and being raised above barbarism to the tune of billions of dollars and countless American lives? People aren't cheering the death and destruction their saying it’s what the people of Afghanistan have wanted and insisted on having all along and it shouldn’t be our job to pay and die for them to resist being dragged into a modern world.
