I've been attempting to establish a kia2 presence on ruqqus by reposting content from here every day or so.
But post ban wave that site appears to be a lost cause.
Decentralization is an ever increasingly useful thing as tech firms and banks decide who does and does not get to do things online so your effects are commendable. Unfortunately there are going to be shitty choices like this [ruqqus, saiddit, voat] which won't be apparent at first until something blatantly retarded is done by those in charge.
Dissent is the comment version of Gab, but I believe you need the Dissent browser to make it work since it's been banned by all the other major browsers.
Of the other reddit alternative do any of them have a decent population and aren't cucked?
When I did a look at all of the Reddit alternatives listed in r/RedditAlternatives, this site is the largest English language Reddit alternative. Others like Poal are a tiny fraction of the traffic that Communities.win has. And the couple of non-English sites were slow and basically impenetrable, like trying to use qq.com
KIA2 is pretty small. Patriots.win is still absolutely massive and IP2always.win is also huge. When you combine their traffic with communities.win, it dwarfs the other reddit alternatives though.
They still censor on their main board for a few types of wrong thing (namely, stuff about Jews), but I feel like T_D crew is still more or less uncompromised.
I mean, they tolerate the existence of ConsumeProduct. That place is like 1/3 nigger kike nigger kike posting, and as far as I'm aware they haven't touched it yet.
I had this opinion previously but I really do feel like .win is the place to stay in.
I agree, especially in terms of the hands off stance from admins. Another example is how “no porn” is supposed to be a site wide rule but is routinely ignored by the IP2 crowd and nothing is done.
As far as I'm aware things that could be interpreted as porn are allowed as long as they're marked, it just can't be the dedicated purpose. Like they're never going to take on an actual porn sub-win.
Weekendgunnit is a good example, when they first dropped they said they were told their "meth mondays" (meth being their slang for women) were ok.
As a consequence, Ruqqus users have forked rdrama (itself a fork off Ruqqus) and created their game forum: https://vidya.cafe/
Not sure about the censorship though: "you may not link to, make posts about, or comment about a video game developer or publisher’s political beliefs."
Not even allowing commenting seems a bit draconian. Even ResetEra and NeoGAF allow that.
Vidya Cafe is a place for civil discussion, and as such you may not:
Use racial slurs in posts, comments, or private messages.
Harrass a user based on their sexuality, religion, race, creed, political beliefs, or disablity
I think the default response to anything like that is the age old 4chan reply of "What a bunch of faggots."
Side note, knowing nothing about that place what level of anonymity is there for users? Why does anyone even need to know what someone's 'sexuality, religion, race, creed, political beliefs, or disablity' even are in the first place for what is meant to be a 'game forum' as per RPD2's description?
Reading the admin response, it sounds like they've decided that the future of the site is a marketing tool for their software. Have no expectations regarding any kind of freedom over there.
The only form of social network that can be truly free is one that has no central ownership , Basically we need to return to the days of the old style web forums where every group has its own forum and they can choose to associate with other forums by providing links to them. Trying a 'big tent' approach of having everything all under one roof is doomed to failure due to the inevitable conflicts this brings.

Gab? Though I rarely visit because it's blocked at my work.
(come to think of it, that's more a Twitter/FB alternative)
I wish gab was more like reddit -
anonymous people commenting on the news they care about.
But it seems to be a twitter clone?
Dissent is the comment version of Gab, but I believe you need the Dissent browser to make it work since it's been banned by all the other major browsers.
Yeah Gab and Parler = Twitter clones; Minds = Facebook clone; Bitchute, Rumble, and Odysee = YouTube clones; Ruqqus, Poal, Communities = Reddit clones.

This site, at least the KiA2 part, is pretty small tbh.

Self-host a lemmy instance? Wouldn't have to federate it, and probably wouldn't want to.

so it's just a worse reddit?

Virtue signaling in rules makes it a non starter

A shame. I really liked that community, but glad to be here.
