I was a relatively early adopter of Imgur. I only lasted two months there before I just had to leave, and that was over a decade ago. It's way worse now.

In the very beginning it wasn't as terrible as it is today. It was basically iFunny or whatever. A very young audience, mostly memes and horribly unfunny garbage with the odd decent post. Just good enough to straddle the line between "kind of funny" and "so awful it actively makes my day worse".

But I very quickly began to notice patterns. Every day there'd be some DNC-funded hitpiece or psyop that mysteriously shot up to the front page with almost no comments. Shortly after, it would quickly get 50-100 comments all hoovering the OP's dick like it had the last Infinity Stone lodged in it. Anyone who said anything else was instantly downvoted to hell.

Sound familiar? Yes, Imgur was actually way ahead of the curve in terms of being converged. I think it's because Imgur's primary demographic was right in that prime brainwashing age of 16-20. Too young to know better, but old enough to vote in the next election. Same as it always was.

At this point Imgur is literally just a massive cloud of bots and shills posting straight up undisguised propaganda so other bots and shills and upvote it and comment the same exact things over and over, forever. All the actual humans have long abandoned the social aspect of it and use it purely as an image host.

But let me tell you. Those two months. Well, actually they weren't that great. Nothing of value was lost.

Wait, people used Imgur as anything other than an image host?

imagine 9gag without the easter europeans.

just women and faggots posting unfunny 'gotcha' and 'fee fees' stuff instead of actually humouros images.

edit. as i just went there to check if it really still pisses me off that much, yes it does. every post i imagine some cunt sitting there with the teeth pressed against each other forced creepy smile looking around if all ppl are laughing, ready to reeee at anyone who would dare role their eyes.
