So I saw a guy who is either a critic or writes for one of those shill sites say something like you don't reward regressive fanboys by giving them the movie they wanted in the first place. Then he went on to talk about all the online hate 2016 Ghostbusters received. Anyone with any online presence is going to get some hate. I don't remember the headlines when Ben Affleck was ridiculed when he was announced as Batman.
So according to this lunatic they should make movies for that tiny percent of twitter weirdos who never cared about the IP to begin with.
While it's true, I'd like to add that the nuance of the thing is this: If there wasn't an "everybody" category in American media prior to, say, the 1990s (though all mainstream stuff that could be shown on broadcast television was considered "for everybody" in its own sense) in American media is because the American public really was overwhelmingly white at one point. High non-white breeding rates and immigration have skewed the demographics, not to mention that their mouthpieces are obnoxiously over-vocal. As for the faggots, their stuff was always there (it's called "camp") but watered down for general consumption just like every other thing was.
Sometimes I wonder what would happen if someone invented a time machine, and brought back certain shows/media to the 1970s to show the general public. I'd bring back Happy! and Skyrim to 1975 just for the fuck of it.
Overwhelmingly??? I don't think it is overwhelming that a white country is white.
OK America was shockingly white.
