This is part of the attack on Xi/She/Her's political enemies. Tencent is owned by a billionaire(s?) who pissed off the establishment. Jack Ma and several others over the past few years have been getting hit over the head for this. Mainly for moving money out of china and making the country look bad for investments with their bullshit moves.
Two different factions (really three) are fighting it out for control of the Bandit Kingdom. You have the militarist faction led by Xi who wants to use a war to jumpstart their economy and kill off the useless eaters in their society, and then you have the merchant faction that just wants make money.
The funniest thing about that is that it doesn't really matter. They're both profoundly immoral and hopelessly corrupt, and if it were up to me Chinese investment in U.S. companies would be outlawed.
it may as well be if the regime tells them to jump they ask how high
while the current owners have been toeing the line a bit they would never step right over it
additionally, the only reason why the current owners own it is because they have ties to people in government if they did not have such ties they wouldn't own it (if you start a company in china and it gets large enough you either make friends with people in government or you are "persuaded" to sell it to people that do or you might "accidentally" fall off a large building)
Technically both. He’s allowed to “own” Tencent as long as he does what the ccp says. So on paper and in practice he owns it as long as when the ccp says “jump” he jumps.
I knew exactly what the link was before i even clicked it and holy shit that game looked promising but the more the video went on.. holy shit it looks like a clusterfuck to untangle.
Where's the lie?
Indeed. That's the whole reason I play them.

Oh, here I thought it was owned by the Chinese State. Thanks for clearing that up.

if it were up to ME, china would be regarded by the west as open ocean.

It benefits the Chinese state or it did which is why they are attacking it because it stopped or they found out they were being cheated.

because a lot of china is spiritual you have Zen Buddhism, Confucianism and Daoism in spades over there
Xianxia is very popular (it's a fantasy genre about cultivating the spirit) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJxM3POU92w for more information
But not Falun Gong no they can't have that.
of course not their organs are too good to let them keep them

They are trying to get people to have more kids, I assume.
Oh no! Anyway
o kurwa!
What's the CCP's angle? I thought Tencent was their mole to collect data on foreign citizens and distribute propaganda?
Uh-oh new lockdowns coming soon.
Good I hope the CCP totally turns on western games and movies. I fear it’s the only way pandering to them will become unprofitable.
