I feel that nerdy stuff became trendy with Big Bang Theory and MCU movies. I remember thinking that was a good thing but now I know better. What is weird is that once nerd culture became mainstream and it became fashionable to say you read comic books or played video games that is when the attacks on nerds (especially white males) started in full force.
Why do you think that it happened that way. Partly due to the large number of feminists who weren’t real fans getting involved in the hobbies. But I’m still surprised to this day how it all went down and definitely miss the days when you were made fun of for liking these things.
Correlation does not imply causation.
This is a statement only ever made by people who want to ignore a correlation.
The leftists were going to try to take over whether they made sci-fi/fantasy fandom popular or not.
Our current situation follows directly from plans that were put in motion sixty years ago. There was nothing special about our particular interest.
True but I guess I’ve always been puzzled by that because I thought at the time that all this exposure was great for nerd culture.
They play off the guys as smart but dumb and need the girls to lead them through life. The show is horrible. Admittedly I've only ever watched a few episodes but every episode is like that that I have seen so if it isn't that I'll have to take others word for it.
To be fair, I know a lot of people who are smart, but dumb. It's unfortunately a state of being for a lot of nerds.
That being said, I've only known a handful of "Sheldons." And even my fellow nerds have a hard time putting up with them.
Well, that's called the naivete of youth. You want the shit you like to be popular because you think it will make you less of an outcast.
Considerable experience has taught me that is not the case, and that if you want something to stay the way you like it, you gatekeep the fuck out of it.
Doesn't not imply it either.
