The catastrophic effects of the anti-bullying campaigns starting in the early 2000s are starting to manifest themselves.
Bullying acted as guardrails for the freaks, what happens without it, well go look at the Portland riot arrest mugshots to see.
It's a lot of things. There's that, there's zero tolerance, the coddling of children, parents failing (either lack of concern or simple inability) to raise kids and instil them with many life skills.
I can attest the last one on the bullyee side, I was bullied a lot in school and my mom's response (dad ofc wasn't in the picture) wasn't to have me change things that were making me targets of bullying, nor to learn how to defend myself and be assertive when I was bullied. When I wasn't being left to my own devices all I got was "just ignore them," "violence was bad," and arguably the worst: "You're fine just the way you are."
It's a damn miracle i didn't turn out a complete basket case.
I feel bad for our parents' generation. They were every bit as propagandized as we are but they didn't have the internet to discuss this bullshit with others and find out it never works.
All of those things your mom told you were what the best doctors, best specialists and every TV personality were telling everyone at the time. Now add another generation's worth of that same propaganda and you can see how we get kids cutting off their genitals because 'You're fine the way you are' turned into 'You can't do anything wrong.'
Our grandparents were too busy working, trying to not starve to death to worry any propaganda.
"anti-bullying" was always about the protected classes and never about the people who got the most frequent bullying.
