I’m black and I’ve been beating this drum forever. They need to stand up. I’m so tired of this narrative that black ppl can do no wrong and can’t be held accountable.
Yep. Sadly I went through a brief period of “white man bad” in my early teens (I’m 40 now) but thankfully my grandfather politely told me how stupid I am and how I need to take advantage of the opportunity I have in America. Also so grateful to my parents despised that mentality.
And you are right. The excuse making for the riots was sickening. And of course they ignored the fact that these idiots were killing jobs in their own community because I sure wouldn’t invest in such areas.
Thomas Sowell wrote a fair amount on how black on black crime priced out black owned businesses.the only people willing to create business in the area were new Immigrants. The ghetto effect on business is similar to the hillbilly effects on rural businesses.
Which book? I’ve read Discrimination and disparities and have Basic Economics and Black Rednecks in my pile to read. I remember an old white friend asked me for recommendations to “elevate black voices”. I suggested he read Larry Elder and Thomas sowell. He came back a week later pissed off. I said oh you wanted black voices who can’t shut up about how oppressed they are.
