Here in Germany Merkel passed a new law to disempower states and centralize power under her control. We used to have semi-independent states kind of like the US but those rights got in the way of the Merkel establishment so they had to go.
The new law also includes a nationwide curfew which went into effect a week ago.
Between the sheer amount of propaganda, persecution of government critics, Ermächtigungsgesetz, Gleichschaltung, weaponized courts and police agencies, paramilitary jackbooted thugs, etc. a lot of things are starting to look familiar to what we were told in history class.
At least we now know how "people could let it all happen" back then.
"There exist certain undesirable people who must be brought back to equality and surrender their unearned and unmerited privileges. There is a rampant disease in our society. We must work towards solving the social disease as well as the physical one." -Lines that could have been said 90 years ago or 90 hours ago.
They're still using "Stop the spread" huh. I think we're well past that at this point.
The only real ways to stop a virus from spreading is by closing down borders and quarantining people coming into it. You don't lock down everybody to do that.
Canada isn't even recognizable anymore. I used to really enjoy going to Canada. Sure it was pretty left leaning but never felt like an American shit hole city even in places like Vancouver and Toronto.
Now I'm not sure I'll ever go there again.
You guys are lucky. Here in Chile we have had VERY harsh restrictions for over a year now. The national curfew is now 9 PM to 5 am. Every day, everywhere. Oh and monthly lockdowns too. (Last one lasted almost 7 weeks, it ended this past Thursday)

I'd love to leave, but I also won't get vaccinated, so I'm not sure I'll ever be able to get out of here.

Switch your network to 3g. Haven't been bothered by this propaganda since then.
