4chinz constantly puts up fights. A huge amount of these "movements" originate there. Pizzagate, QAnon, Gamergate, even all the way back to anti-Scientology and the original "Anonymous" movement all began on 4chan and moved outward through various channels.
Gamergate is special because Mootykins literally banned it off 4chan. That's something that doesn't happen and drove the entire thing into overdrive. So it went everywhere and ended up spreading to all sorts of places that allowed it to breed like it has.
Those anons may all be fags, but they are fags with a lot of impotent rage in them that causes them to constantly pick fights.
There's a difference between 4chan, a community dedicated to being edgy on the internet, and gamers as a group. 4chan may have broken the initial stories that exposed the scandal, but it was getting mainstream attention before Moot waved the rainbow flag. It was the lies about gamers coming from the media that woke so many people up, because we suddenly all had proof that we were being lied to.
Mooty waved the flag because people were utilizing weaponized autism to find the connections between the numerous names involved in the initial stories, figuring out who and what advertisers they had, then organizing operations to do something with that information.
Without those autistic retards most people would have screaming about it on twitter, then screencapped that and posted it to reddit, and then said they were doing something. Kinda like they have been doing ever since that day.
