The main difference between me this year and me last year is if a button that (non-violently) removed all black people from the US, this year me would push it and last year me wouldn't. That is the effect last summer had.
Nothing personal, but the USSR lasted longer than the post-Civil Rights Act "colorblind society". When your ideas are more fragile than authoritarian communism, that isn't a strong endorsement of your ideas.
