A few observations which have nothing to do with each other and are in no way encouragement of any particular action:
To mass troops in once place means drawing troops from other places.
I wager blue states have a significantly higher troop presence in their capitols than red states and are taking possible threats more seriously than their red counterparts as well. I wonder why that is.
When some guys I know were activated for the riots this past year, they were issued standard riot gear, helmets, shields, batons, etc, their rifle, and one magazine if god-forbid it came to that. According to people still in D.C. now, these guardsmen are carrying a full combat loads worth of ammunition; around seven to eight magazines.
Finally, there are currently more armed troops in D.C. than there were during the Second Battle of Fallujah or combined across current-day Iraq and Afghanistan depending on your source.

I'm not expecting anything to happen, but then again I didn't expect anything on the 6th either. All it would take is one nervous and untrained guardsman to cause an American Tianamen Square incident and then it's really on.
