We have to care because the media sets the discourse in the country/world. Lefties and half the right believes what they say. Thus:

Riots in 2020 were peaceful.
Trump called 'nazis' fine people.
Trump dumped out the fish food like a dolt in front of Shinzo Abe....

The media is the primary reason that Trump lost, through shameless propaganda and fraud coverups.

So like it or not, we have to care, because the media is going to drive the enactment of the left's (Harris') agenda...
