shrug Humans weren't aware of air, either, until just a few handfuls of generations ago.
That's not the case - the ancient Greeks knew about air. It's hard to argue everything's made up of earth, water, fire, and air if you don't know air exists.
Yeah, and they lived less than 100 generations ago.
Anyway, if that's so, then why wouldn't fish be aware of the medium that flows by them? I bet octopi/squid know.
