The week of November 9th I was exposed to an asymptomatic co-worker who developed full symptoms the next day and tested positive. We were in the same room, in close proximity (i.e. well within 6 feet of each other) for about 6 hours.
His end result? Felt like crap for about a week, flu-like symptoms, doctor gave him a Z-Pak and inhaler, told him to quarantine for two weeks. He's back on the job now, feels as good as ever.
My end result? Had to go get tested, forced to work from home for three days until the results came back. Had to last-minute reschedule several appointments for things I had planned to get done before the Thanksgiving holiday. I came up clean, no symptoms whatsoever in the interim.
Take from that what you will, but anyone who says this disease is one of the most infectious things in existence really needs to have their head examined.
That's because people who are asymptomatic don't have a high enough viral load in their throats to infect others. Even if they coughed right in your face it's extremely unlikely you'd get it from them.
Having asymptomatic people wear marks is a complete joke.
