Women are far more likely to attempt suicide than men. Men are far more likely to succeed in suicide than women. Women in general don't desire to actually kill themselves. Their suicide attempts are cries for attention.
An 83% increase can definitely be significant when compared to a 22% increase among men, but if the men's rate of suicide is already more than double that of the women then that 83% is just a drop in the bucket on the scale.
We really need to program more dialog options for the NPCs.
The only hint in CNN’s article that something is off is this sentence:

So the suicide rate among men is more than double that of women. Fuck off CNN
