The dev team for quake 3 source port ioquake3 have gone regressive and retweet extremist propaganda on their twitter account: https://archive.is/nlZ2X
Bonus: In a security breach notice, Jack Slater spews intersectionalist drivel about crypto in which he bashes libertarianism and fear mongers about global warming: https://archive.is/qjvfD#selection-627.0-630.0
Edit: holy crap I got stickied.
It used to be polite to talk politics only in certain enviroments.
Now it's a virtue to spew politics through every orifice at all times.
Can we go back to the former?
If it was all politics, that'd be one thing. Instead, it's a virtue to motte-and-bailey leftist politics and suppress anything that hasn't been force-fed to people by the agitprop outfits that masquerade as 'news'.
Social Justice isn't political. Opposition to Social Justice is Conservative politics.
Keep your politics out of my video games goober-gator.
He's not wrong about cryptocurrency. It is a garbage libertarian fantasy, one that people here should view as a cautionary tale about why gatekeeping is necessary. A regular payment processor has to do something stupid and short-sighted to give China that kind of control over their transactions, but Bitcoin is in that state by design.
When Coinbase announced that they were adopting a no politics corporate policy, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey slammed them and endorsed Bitcoin as being inherently political (https://archive.is/tU4rf). If that's not a massive red flag, I don't know what is.
All currency should be treated as cautionary. Crypto currency can be useful in a way that most fiat currencies are far worse off with. The numbers in your bank account are pseudo-money pretending it's legitimate. Crypto is simply pseudo-money attempting to be legitimate. Neither are money.
You realize that pretty much all of Big Tech is in league with China, and so are all the major investment banks, and so are all the payment processors. Literally, China's US debt holding is a huge amount of control that China just has over the entirety of the US economy.
China's control over some crypto is likely far less than it's influence on the petro-dollar system.
Electric cars are a substitute for ICE cars: you're replacing a car that burns fossil fuels with a car that burns fossil fuels more efficiently (in a large, stationary power plant), reducing your use of resources.
Proof-of-work cryptocurrency is a substitute for a trusted payment processor, but it replaces the educated assumption that your bank isn't going to run off with your money with what's effectively a hazing ritual that consumes electricity purely for the sake of destroying something of value.
Where an electric car is at worst 8% better than an ICE car in terms of lifetime carbon emissions (assuming your electric car is powered entirely by coal), a Bitcoin transaction requires thousands of times more electricity than the conventional transaction it's replacing.
And then you have massive power outages, and no one has any cash.
Even if you would get the electricity to power your car entirely from solar panels, mining all the rare earth metals to make the batteries for it and disposing of said batteries is not exactly environment friendly.
Someone who is a leftist doesn't believe in scarcity, and so shouldn't even be making the argument at all.
Yeah, how dare people waste precious electricity on alternative investments that could be better used to.... remaster a videogame? Also, you can't throw cryptocurrency into the ocean because:
Where do these self-righteous retards get off on thinking they must use their meager platform as a soapbox. If you're so immature and childish you're unable to leave your politics at the door when working on a VIDEOGAME, you should be forced, at gunpoint for all I care, to re-attend kindergarten until you learn to be an adult.
Pretty sure you don't want to be placing these kinds of people in close proximity to small children
Good point. Maybe they can be in their own “special” kindergarten class.

Take it easy, you’re porting Quake 3. He acts like somebody who’s working on an important game, like Blood or Turok 2.
Cryptocurrency is large-scale technology. Any libertarian that's read kaczynski well tell you it's a pipe dream and if you really want to evade taxes, just buy a machine gun and a couple grenades and prepare for a standoff.
I stumbled across this last week. Glanced at their twitter and saw nothing about quake, and just tweet after tweet of leftist nonsense.
