I hate that phrase when it comes to code, because when people say it they're usually talking about code that only 1 guy in the company even remembers exists, is completely unmaintainable and a security hole just waiting to happen (if it doesn't already contain some). Real programmers rarely have a low workload and there's usually a growing mountain of technical debt that no one has the time to get to.
But when it comes to UI/UX design people, I think you just shouldn't employ those fulltime, because they'll spend 80% of their time coming up with bullshit that most actual users will hate just to justify their paycheck.
Well, that just proves my point about there being no consequences for them.
Remember that 4chan also banned discussion of the #Quinnspiracy that eventually lead to #GamerGate, which is why 8chan was created in the first place. So this idea of 4chan as the place where anything goes is outdated to say the least.
Not to mention, the reason why they started banning this stuff is because it makes them a target (not that it actually saves them against lefty journos when they're perfectly willing to fabricate evidence or simply rely on their readers not fact checking their claims).
The reason it doesn't make Netflix a target is because they're in with the right crowd, so activist journos are only too happy to shield them when they fuck up. This one might be a bit too public to cover up completely, but I doubt it'll lead to anything.
Liberalism isn't what the modern left espouses. If there's a word for what they espouse it's probably Intersectionalism (or Neo-Marxism if you aren't afraid of going to its philosophical roots). Heck some of them are open Communists.
If anything, the Republican party embodies Liberalism far more than today's left does. They may not call themselves Liberals, but ignoring the Neo-Cons and more authoritarian religious types (who don't have nearly as much influence these days), Conservative philsophy is basically Classical Liberalism with a bit of extra patriotism on top.
With stuff this ridiculous I'd prefer they keep publishing it so we can link it to people to show how unhinged they are.
How to stay sane? It may feel irresponsible with the world falling apart around us, but focus on other things, especially things that are constructive (whether that means creating something that you think will be helpful to others, taking pride in doing your job or finally giving your house a good cleanup). It's hard to stay grounded if you spend all your free time reading about this shit, watching videos or trying to win discussions about it.
If for whatever reason you can't get away from dealing with this (or if you can handle it), then try to organize locally. Most people IRL are normie moderates who believe whatever news sources they follow - they might not agree with you but they're probably just well-intentioned but ignorant. You can help them build up mental defenses against the far left's emotional arguments and constant gaslighting, either directly or simply by helping to bring out whatever latent appreciation of property rights, the family unit etc. they already have (but have never really had to think about).
1 week to confirm, 2 years trying to work up the courage to tell others?
Mozilla is, but I don't think they get a lot of funding for being progressive. The activists they're trying to appeal to don't give a shit about privacy or a free and open web, and Mozilla will never be as progressive or valuable to them as Google is.
That's why I think their progressive posturing only hurts them, financially. A lot of the people who might be interested in donating to Mozilla out of a desire to oppose Google are turned away by their political leanings. But I doubt Mozilla will change - the actual programmers might not spend a lot of time on progressive activism, but the upper echelons and HR have been completely taken over.
Unfortunately true, though the engine itself is still written by a bunch of very competent programmers, who manage to more or less keep up with Chrome despite having only half as many people.
Mozilla did just announce that they're firing 250 people because they were hit hard by the coronavirus (or maybe their support of BLM, but they probably wouldn't admit that even if they knew it to be true). With any luck most of the people they're laying off will be activists, but I'm not holding my breath.
Fair enough. Let's see if this place will thrive!
Use it on them, then use it on the DAs who refuse to press charges.
