Im all for learning history but it has to be acknowledged that slavery and land conquest were once quite common across the world. Also you can’t ignore atrocities committed by non-whites. Finally, it’s good to learn history but at some point you have to move forward.

Extremely biased NYT who have openly shown how much they hate Trump. Clearly a good source to listen to.

The most ridiculous form of virtue signaling. First off, who did those tribes conquer to take that land? You could pretty much go anywhere in the world and make some claim like this. Finally, if these people were that guilty then go sell your land or find members of the tribe and give away your land

Yep. My friends and I rolled out the red carpet for any girls who showed an interest in nerdy stuff

True. My dad had zero patience for whining when it came to his sons. His “advice” was to shut up and try again. My sister could freely whine and get comfort

Remember the sob stories where women would cry about being the only girl in a comic book store and some “evil nerd” harassed her (aka asked her what comics she likes). Or crying about video games. I remember back then thinking you entered a male dominated hobby and are upset that a lot of males enjoy said hobby

And thanks for the kind words

Why were they cancelled? I thought that was a good mentor/mentee relationship.

Good point. Overused statement, but gatekeeping is important. I think it was either Chris Gore or Alan Ng whose review of The Marvels said "this movie was made for teenage girls but not comic book fans". Of course some people got upset and said teenage girls can be comic book fans. Sure they can, but not in large numbers which was proven by the fact that mostly men went to see the movie.

Thankfully the sports card hobby hasn't been attacked yet.

I've read some of his books and have a few Xanth books that I haven't read yet. I'll see if I have that one.

I swear every writing room is either forced to "address" the same issues or the people hired are the type that see everything in their life through race/gender

Just any stories that jump out to you. UBIK made me think of it

Oh wow. I haven’t seen a dine in since the 90s. But most of my life has been in Oklahoma and Texas

I wonder why Pizza Hut stopped dine in. They could be like Cicis

I heard about it. Dose it follow Willow’s story?

I like that term. Watchmen is good but unfortunately it started the whole “super hero deconstruction”. My brother was shocked that I’ve never watched Boys. I got some of the comics but I’m so tired of the evil Superman trope.

There is a spectacular Spider-Man issue from 82 where Spidey goes after a criminal who took a shop owners gun. Clearly the writer was pro gun control but he at least presented the shop owner as a good man who sincerely wanted to protect his family. At the end of the comic Jameson reads aloud the crime statistics regarding guns and the comic ends with “we have some of the strictest gun laws in the country so why is there still so much crime”.

I can respect the fact that the writer at least made that point. The writer of that panel clearly hasn’t looked at the illegal immigration issue. I know some Christians use the argument that Christ commands us to help those in need, but helping those in need and flooding countries with poor citizens are two different things. Also this writer has never looked at the effects of rampant illegal immigration.

I was still in comic forums when that came out and said anyone who is praising this has never read comics. Although with that comic it was a lot of people jumping on the trendy thing. Similar to what you saw with MCU

He was one of the Ewoks too. Wendy’s back then was awesome along with dine in Pizza Hut. I also loved the story of the founder of Wendy’s

Haven’t read that either but I’ve heard it does. I think I have it on my shelf somewhere

I enjoy pre Disney Star Wars and am a big fan of the expanded universe books and comics. I remember thinking in the 90s that the future of stars was novels which I was fine with. I’m all for making different movies since reboots or remakes are being done all the time but having books for the more hardcore fans is fine.

Well I’m pretty retro so I find very little dated. I still enjoy Jack Benny or the George Burns show. This was a movie that I just never got around to seeing.
