At this point, everyone knows I'm hugely into books.
It's just so depressing how even book people are about nothing more than intentionally creating this self-perpetuating "community" of anxiety.
You can't go to any freaking book-related online space without people asking for permission to not finish a book. "Is it okay to DNF?????"
Same with doing shit to your own books. Do not write into them, do not open them too much or the spine will crack. Get a panic attack because two fucking photons touched the book and how it will be DAMAGED.
"I am having a panic attack because maybe I didn't get all the references in this book."

The same with every hobby. Cooking? You are not environmentally friendly enough, you are not authentic enough, this is wrong, that is wrong.

Hell, I am kiiinda thinking about a Switch, I looked at Animal Crossing and people are freaking the fuck out at others for not playing the game "right". Others are having depression because their islands are not aesthetic enough.

How did the internet turn everyone so fucking neurotic over the things we were supposed to do as FUN? And I am not even just talking about SJW things, but every community is about "doing it the right way" even though it doesn't matter and there doesn't exist a right way?

I just found some Life Pro Tips post about mental health.
Fucking Reddit is the single most miserable ass website EVER. People just keep praising each other for not trying to do anything for themselves and it fucks me up.
I have my issues. I'm not talking out of my ass. I used to have this phase of multiple panic attacks a day, sometimes like every couple hours.

Those fucks are such lazy, miserable cunts who even encourage shitty, unhealthy behaviour. They claim they have no energy to do anything the first moment it feels hard, but then they bitch and moan about not getting free therapy indefinitely and not getting enough pills.
They seem to love pills so much and talking each other into getting hooked on them.

But you encourage people to go out for fucking walks? NO, NOT ON MY WATCH, HITLER. They yell at you if you encourage someone unwell to eat better, to get creative hobbies, to develop good habits. They just say it doesn't work.
Maybe it doesn't work because they don't want it to work. They will their own selves to be fucking unhappy.

This was a rant and probably random as shit, but I am baffled when people actively make each other feel worse like this.

I'm watching the newest Netflix show, Shadow and Bone. It's YA fantasy, based on books. I read most of them and I have an opinion on them. Basically, the author used to have some nice ideas, but then it all devolved into typical teen girl fare.

But what Netflix does is so typical of what happens with shows and movies now. The main character in the books goes through this long period of being a fish out of water. An orphan girl suddenly becoming a powerful person, living in the royal palace. Everyone is superficial and a total backstabber, they make fun of her. They have gone through the same kind of rigorous training through abuse, but nobody tells her, so she feels she is worse than them.
Then in time she finds her place, and it turns out everyone else also felt those things.

In the show everyone, except like one girl, automatically accepts and loves her, but then mean people are... RACIST, because she is half their world's equivalent of Asian in the show (she was 100% white in the books).

Why do these people always, always trade universally understandable human emotions for in-your-face, comical Muh Racism? It's not like she would have suffered any less if they went with everyone being a catty bitch to her.
It almost feels like the creators don't understand human beings have feelings other than oppression. Like you can be lonely even if you are not coloured. You can be an outsider without having the gays. You can have limited opportunities without having a vagina.
But that's too complex for them. Too much thinking.

Last weekend I decided to read The Queen's Gambit. Yes, the book that got turned into an inaccurate miniseries by Netshits.

People praise the show for encouraging women to play chess.
Here is the thing. We do have female chess players. Since 1941, we have female Grand Masters. My tiny ass country even has three sisters who are renowned champions and the youngest one is the head coach of the national men's team now.

The idea that women/minorities/gays need fictional characters like them to prove they can do THINGS is ridiculous and so condescending. The actual, real life people did the things. Take it or leave it, they are the way they are, if you need some prettified, perfect parable character who throws sassy one-liners to get into a thing then you were never passionate about it in the first place.

Specifically, in The Queen's Gambit novel the main character, Beth does just that. She isn't doing it because someone told her she can. She gets no support that way, people either don't care or just say "ah, this is your thing, have fun".
Which is why I'm annoyed by this show in specific.
It also makes it obvious she is not great at many other things and somehow idiotic people still YAS KWEEN the character. She is an alcoholic drug addict, who only cares as long as other people serve a purpose in her chess playing.

Hey!
Many of you old timers know I talk a ton of bullshit. Now my bullshit is getting turned into a novel or something similar.
Nowhere near done yet, nowhere near great yet. It's fantasy.
Would any of ye people be interested in maybe looking at some chapters soon?
I would prefer if you were regular posters/known around here. Not because I have an issue with fresh meat, but I would hate if some pantifa plants tried messing with my thing.
(Mods, delete if inappropriate post.)
