Sony is going to fuck this gen up big time I can feel it in my bones.
It's almost like they intentionally screw up on alternating gens isn't it? :D
I mean it's almost like they are going to force idiots to adopt gamepass as an industry standard, Sony messes up...xbox takes the lead, every loves gamepass right? Sony copies gamepass...and we arrive at the world they've wanted for years...no-one will 'own' any games.
I don't think the games industry is going to be even semi-recognisable by the end of this gen...the true and final end to 'my' gaming anyway...kinda sad I'm not gonna lie. :(

There will never be Game Pass exclusives. If you want to own a game - even though digital ownership isn't real ownership because a wrongthink ban takes it away, you can.
Gamepass just sucks and it's not a future I want any part of...it's one of those things that seems really great until you have a good long think about it.
If a game is on gamepass it's a low-quality game, almost by definition.
Can confirm, Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be on there... been a fan of the franchise through thick and thin ever since late 2014, but this will be the first DLC that I may not purchase, Bungies quality is in the fucking garbage
For me, it's the color rather than the shape. For example, if I see ❌, I think cancel. If I see ❎, I think confirm. Since Playstation uses ⭕, I think that means cancel.
I switch between Nintendo and PS4 a lot and I've not really struggled with getting used to swapping the buttons around. Screw with my analog sticks and make me go back and forth between inverted or move around the functions and I'm totally dead in the water though.
Still, this seems like something that could have just been a option in the settings. I guess they could still swap buttons on the controller profile. Maybe the Japanese just need a tranny to come out that they identify with circle as the confirm button and Sony needs to support their choice. It would be changed in minutes.
I haven't had issues either, but that's because of the controllers. I hooked up my ps4 controller to my switch and I can't use it because I keep using X as confirm.
Yeah I can see that. I do find that Nintendo controllers tend to hold in such a way that your thumb rests on the A button naturally. The PS4 throws me off with QTEs still after years, so when you force me to think fast I screw it up with what symbol is what button and how similar the circle and square look at a seconds glance.
While on one hand if you're any sort of gamer you'll be able to adjust, I always hate it when people like the AVGN cry endlessly about A having to be jump on the NES, even on games Nintendo didn't make.
On the other it's a pointless change and a real slap on the nuts for Japanese players especially as Sony is meant to be Japanese.
While his was overblown massively, I get the idea. I played FFX recently and its such a minority of games these days that pure muscle memory makes me screw up a lot of times with it.
I know I'm being a bit glib, I used to find it really hard and then through just playing all the consoles a LOT (lol) I suddenly found it a lot easier...so I deserve the negs people.
I think it really depends on the console. Its pretty easy to adjust to the Switch being different because the shape of it is also pretty different. Same with much older consoles like the Gamecube or NES if necessary.
But Playstation has had identical consoles for 20 years now, you get used to one type of controls for things. At least after the PS1 generation where even in America it was 50/50 for us.
Very rarely is it a "big deal" on its face.
A pronoun is just a little word, I can't see why it's a big deal.
It's just high school sports, I can't see why it's a big deal.
And before you know it we have lens flares covering Trish's ass... fuck that let the asians have Circle Confirm
It’s actually pretty significant. “o” for correct (yes) and “x” for incorrect (no) is used in all aspects of Japanese culture. The PS5 will now be the only exception to this rule, which will be counter-intuitive to the Japanese people.
During the development of the original PS, Sony probably realized Japanese cultural norms might not translate well in the western market and made the changes you’re now accustomed to. While it might be “just a button prompt” for us, it’s much more for them.
Imagine being forced to play all computer games with a trackball mouse starting next week. They are quite intuitive and work rather well for most things, but after 10+ years I imagine you'd prefer not to especially for dumb reasons.
Overblown example, but its changing what everyone is used to and built their muscle memory around for no reason.

Its their turn... (X360>PS3 - PS4>XOX - XSX>PS5) <<<<PC MASTER RACE
Funny how the 'tolerant' and 'multicultural' California 'progressives' are the biggest American cultural imperialists around.
California Uber Alles intensifies.
Communists are always guilty of what they try to falsely accuse other people of
Cue a ton of accidental purchases.
Just don't buy a console, easy peasy
How about instead of them changing it, we all adopt the O means yes and X means no? It makes sense.
For me, it's the color rather than the shape. For example, if I see ❌, I think cancel. If I see ❎, I think confirm. Since Playstation uses ⭕, I think that means cancel.
Same reason why Xbox A is green and B is Red

on PC we just change keybinds....
Sounds like a good opportunity for custom PCBs to swap them
Can they just admit that they hate Japanese already?
cue complaints of white supremacy
I can't see why this is a big deal.
I'd say a Japanese company being managed by Americans who are wasting no time in beating the Japaneseness out of their products is a pretty big deal.
Very rarely is it a "big deal" on its face.

It's just pixels in a video game, I can't see why it's a big deal.
It's just a small localization change, I can't see why it's a big deal.
Ad nauseam. It quickly becomes death by a thousand cuts. Don't fall for it.
