CPAC's response should have been to offer her detractors the option to debate her on stage, tell 'em "If you think Lauren is so awful, here's a slam dunk debate for you as you can just tell all the awful truths about her and she won't be able to counter!" I'm sure Lauren would've been game.
According to this biased article The Institute of Public Affairs, which sponsors the event, is believed to have been among those who raised concerns about Southern's inclusion. A number of federal MPs scheduled to appear whined as well, apparently.
