domain hosts that are easy to intimidate
search engines, social networks blacklisting you and limiting your exposure
news sites, NGOs running smear campaigns against you, possibly getting you into debt or hurting the reputation of you and your family
and for what? for a userbase that has shown again and again it is too lazy/unwilling to switch from centralized censorious platforms. because having a convenient app and a large amount of users is the most important thing to them. to them, complaining about censorship is just a dopamine rush, it's not something they're willing to change their habits for.
to get people to switch to KiA2.win, the mods had to literally close the subreddit. for months, they begged people to move to other platforms and nothing helped. mind you, the people here are way more ideologically-driven than average and usually put a lot more effort into their posts. you want to get the average zoomer shitposter, you need critical mass. which means large amount of funds, large amounts of advertising power, etc. and when you operate at that scale, you're an easy target for the "trivialities" above.
