38-weeks pregnant & told she can’t rest on a park bench during the 1-hour per day she’s allowed out of the house. Victoria’s draconian lockdown is bordering on insane.

Victoria Police tackling the scourge of grannies on park benches. Not at all heavy handed...she deserved to have her phone snatched away. I feel so much safer now!

QUELLE SURPRISE: "The man in his 20s who was called Australia's youngest COVID-19 victim was suspected by senior health officials to have died from another cause, possibly a drug overdose, at the time Premier Daniel Andrews publicly linked his death to the coronavirus."
Seeing what places like Australia, Canada, and New Zealand are doing makes me glad that I live in rural America. Nobody around here gives a shit anymore, and no one is going to throw a fit about someone walking outside without a mask. The city I go to school in is a quite a bit stricter, but at least you can’t get arrested for sitting on a bench.
I'm in NYC and there is a major divide depending on what neighborhood you live in. You go to bleeding heart liberal hipsterville people will bug out if you don't have a mask on, run away from you etc.
The place where native New Yorkers live are just basically "fuck it," at this point. Businesses will do the mask stuff just so they don't get shut down, but otherwise no one cares. The rules are all being stretched. There's restaurants that are doing indoor dining for the people they know and bars are running on the downlow.
The return of speakeasies. It really is the '20s.
crazy isnt it... not looking forward to the 30s hahaha
I remember reading a greetext a few years ago regarding a red scare in the 60s in a rural New South Wales town, something like 17 people showed up to a pro-communist rally and around 2000 ARMED counter protesters arrived to squash them... so many armed people in one place scared the government so much that they were looking for an excuse to take our guns away ever since
Some Cops Are Bastards
You are joking with the 1hr / day thing right?
RIGHT?!
Just looked it up. Nope, not joking. Really wonder how you can even remotely enforce that.
unfortunately not, were only (technically) allowed out of the house for 3 reasons.
1 hour of exercise (being extended to 2 next week)
Travelling to work. Only specific industries are open (im in construction so I can go to the office) Those travelling to work must carry with them a "Permitted Work Permit" stating the hours theyre working for each week, where theyre working and they home address... any deviation from those 2 destinations can result in a fine.
1 person from each household can go get groceries once a day.
On top of all that there is an 8:00pm to 5:00am curfew... only people allowed outside of their homes at those hours are cops and people with the correct working permit (eg power plants / hospitals etc anything that needs to run 24/7)
Dude, I am sorry.
How the fuck are you guys just taking it? That legit sounds like dystopian shit seen only in the movies.
where not really, the last 2 weekends have finally seen organised protests against the lockdown. People are starting to wake up.
Good!
Hopefully more and more people will join in.
Good luck man, wishing for the best.
Holy shit. I just read the rules in Victoria. It is absolutely nuts. Not to mention half them are completely unenforceable without them prowling and stalking you such as only going out once a day for one hour or only one household member allowed to go shopping a day. Or the you're allowed to "nominate" one person to visit if you live alone. WTF is that? Do you have to register that person online? Or can you "nominate" a new person every day?
Geez, even here the ban on benches was only a month, and that was a few months ago. Really, beyond the recent mask thing, this area's been downright lucky, and not much has really been disrupted. knocks wood
UK and Commonwealth in general seems to be an absolute hellhole to live in
Heard a rumour (take with some salt) that the Governor-General will be stepping in soon to remove Dictator Dan from office.
God I hope its true
