COVID is sub-micron in size. The only masks that can actually filter it are N95 rated or better. Your dumb little bandana isn't doing a fucking thing to stop it.
If you want to protect yourself, then that's your thing. The N95 will work, but only if you do the entire cleansing ritual: washing hands, regularly changing PPE in new rooms/buildings, not touching the mask or other clothes, proper don and doff, etc. The only person who can protect you is you.
There is no bullet proof way to protect yourself, I use wipes when I'm out and wash fruits I eat raw. Its more about reducing the viral load you are exposed to so if you do come in contact your body isn't behind the 8 ball building up an immune response.
The idea of masks is to reduce thick particulate matter (sputum) from contacting surfaces and foods. I mean when I look at my monitor, after I cleaned and before, its pretty damn obvious when I'm coughing I'm spitting out lugies and it sure doesn't seem like it to me.
Airlocks, hazmat suits, and clean air supplies have been perfect thus far, when used properly with the associated cleansing rituals. It's up to every individual to do their own risk assessment and weigh the costs of reducing it.
Spez: Kriegers don't catch wuflu, although they wouldn't care if they did.

Good thing I bought N95 masks about 2 months before the quarantine.
