It's not too crazy. Muslims needed to learn Latin and Italian if they ever wanted to deal with Christian Europe well into the 1500's.
To add to this point, Arabs, predominantly Muslim, translated the bulk of Latin manuscripts before reintroducing them to the West after the split of the Empire.
It would more likely be Latin and French, french being the diplomatic language of the time, Latin would be useful to communicate with priests
