Are you retarded? It's still based on real events, in real world locations, despite the artistic liberties. And whether the literal word of the text is true doesn't change the stories' impact on all of Western civilization. It doesn't change how they defined our societal norms and laws, from the Greeks to the Romans to the Christians.
What Christopher Nolan did was to spit on a foundational myth that defines our entire culture.
