They had race and gender swaps, even the dog breeds of the one mush team were changed. They changed the motivations and deaths of multiple characters. And the ending is so vastly different. Maybe because it's a kids movie this movie didn’t get shredded in 2020, but it should have been.

Kids media was the first they captured. No one even pays attention to it being "updated for modern audiences" as it came out for modern audiences 30 years ago. Especially Disney. That whole era of "Disney Channel kids" is basically the second half of the millennials that didn't grow up with a tablet, but damn sure obsessed over Disney Channel shows with the same enthusiasm and vigor they chose their Harry Potter house.
Lucky for me we were too poor for fancy things like cable until I was older, although I think I was probably a good decade prior to Disney channel really pushing hard into their pedophile produced propaganda.
The Disney Channel sitcom to Pop Star Whore pipeline is too streamlined and successful to not have been intentional. And it really makes one wonder how early it started with each of them.
Reminder that the girl from Poltergeist was butteaped to death.
We only got basic cable since I lived near the Amish in the 90s. We were lucky to get 28.8k dialup when I was in senior high, which helped since I was a founding member of the computer club so I could spend study hall in the lab before I got internet at home. I had some basic DOS clone PC with a few games and a word processor before that and could only use Win3.1 at school, then we were able to get Win95 with a Novell network and I got a WinPC at home as soon as internet expanded into our small borough since we were about a 10 minute drive from the truck stop and our small borough of less than 350 people actually had the bank, post office, and corner store. But we damned sure had USA and some movie channel, so I loved watching the midnight and Saturday afternoon B horror movies.
