They had race and gender swaps, even the dog breeds of the one mush team were changed. They changed the motivations and deaths of multiple characters. And the ending is so vastly different. Maybe because it's a kids movie this movie didn’t get shredded in 2020, but it should have been.

I loved that book in my pre-teens and read it several times. I'd hate to see what they did to the story

No, they definitely chilled him out but he was still a big powerful dog. Because it's cgi he just has an uncanny valley vibe to him
