It also forces everyone into a digital ecosystem with a digital ID where they can revoke your access based on your social credit score.
Sony has already been caught in the past doing it, and I believe there were a few stories about Xbox, but once you're forced to tie all of your purchases to an online account and that account gets banned for [wrong think], you can kiss your library goodbye.
It's not even just a chilling effect, it's freezing out any modicum of anonymity and ownership completely.
Remember the guy who got his account permabanned for simply living in a town named Fort Gay?
