Movies and Food are bad first date ideas, they involve long segments of time NOT communicating, when communication is the point of the date.
Now, if you're simply buying the woman, yeah, sure, woo her with money. Many women WANT to be bought. It's like 3/4ths of their romance section (the last quarter is rape, but, uhh... also don't try that one as a first date. Or in general, really.), so you know there's plenty of potential there if you can back up the purchase and the conspicuous capitalism, but it will ALWAYS be a transactional relationship if it was built upon the foundations of one, at its core.
But otherwise, if you're trying to actually get a connection, either invite them to a hobby you're into so you can assess their judgement of it, or pick something that works for pairs that you've wanted to try, and lead with that, so you can multitask trying two new things.
Or meet at a park, or a cafe, for a simple drink, and talk. Depends how "blind" the first date is.
