Marriage hasn't been sacred since the government got involved. How could something be holy if there is a secular man made authority interfering in it?

Yes. The government took marriage successfully solved a problem they would have to deal with (social instability after a woman is divorced) by forcing men at gun point to give up everything theyve earned. Its not about religion, it's an insurance policy
