Obsession is very obviously one of the nu-wave feminist horror movies wherein everything is an overt allegory for some retarded feminist idea. In this case, it's "male entitlement over female bodies". And because people are also stupid, the film dumbs down the "monkey paw" trope by having the female victim of the wish periodically "wake up" just to remind the retarded audience that she totally didn't consent to being in love with the incel nice guy.
